The master art director

Helmut Krone was one of the idols of my generation of advertising art directors and we all studied his work looking for the key elements of his success. This book told me so much more than I could have guessed at the time, both about the work and the driven, difficult man who created it. Seeing his "book" as it is (or was) known in the business - that is, his portfolio of work - is revealing, to say the least. Krone was a master, but he had his failures, as we all did. His relentless search for "new" took its toll, but he helped make art direction a true profession and made advertising a business that thousands of talented men and women eagerly sought to be a part of. This is a great book and required reading for anyone who seeks to communicate visually at the highest level.

Good book for someone in the marketing profession

If you are in the marketing world as a professional, this is a book you should seriously consider adding to your library. Though the price tag is hefty, it is a worthy reference book. It is one you will return to again and again not only as a source for how it used to be done, but for how you might try it today. Great idea book or one that will spur your imagination.
